Metal Gear and Castlevania publisher Konami celebrated its 50th anniversary in March, and in an attempt to "continue sustainable growth in the next 50 years," it's opened a brand-new studio, has another R&D studio under construction, and has "significantly raised" the base salaries of its staff to "promote management emphasised on human capital, improve employee engagement, and enhance its competitiveness."

Konami's Osaka Studio opened last month as a relocation from its current studio, which is said to operate under the concept of "creators first," offering a "well-developed environment where creators can demonstrate their full potential." The studio comes packed with motion capture equipment and sound studios so its teams can work on in-house projects. Alongside Osaka Studio, Konami is expecting a "next generation" R&D centre to be completed by 2025 at Ariake, Koto-ku, Tokyo. Named Konami Creative Front Tokyo Bay, the R&D centre is aimed at strengthening health and productivity management for a healthier work environment for its employees.

The base salaries for Konami staff were "substantially raised" last month as the company aims to "continue sustainable growth in the next 50 years." The base salary of its staff has been raised by an average of ¥50,000 ($376) a month, or ¥600,000 ($4,515) a year. Starting salaries for new graduates have also been increased to around ¥290,000 ($2,182) a month. By better investing in its workforce, Konami hopes to improve employee engagement and enhance its competitiveness in the entertainment field, and in turn, "strengthen its product development capabilities and continue to provide products and services for the next generation."
